Of Wood and Water
A downloadable game
Of Wood and Water is the second of two campaign systems I wrote for Warhammer Fantasy 7th/8th edition games, the first being the Underway campaign Of Stone and Iron which you can find here. This system takes you as players to the far end of the Warhammer World, the Turtle Islands, a region little imagined in the game's background but which I hope you'll enjoy exploring.
The core campaign system focuses on turn-based exploration gameplay, with players being able to explore, expand, recruit troops and build bases and towns as they explore the area. Faction special rules allow for some factions to dominate forest fighting and move rapidly through the thick jungles, while others may be better trying to carve out a defined built up territory to defend.
The Turtle Islands are not uninhabited, however: the local peoples have their own goals and may be crucial to your success or failure. The ferocious People of the Consuming Forest and the mysterious People of the Moai, as well as local Jungle Goblins and lizardman Skink tribes, may all help or hinder certain players in achieving their goals.
This is an updated version as of 2023, with added notes on how to play as the local factions, an order of rules notes that makes more actual sense, and some additional short story text and illustrations from C19th books added for flavour.
More discussion, design notes, etc available on the Exilian forums (and I'm quicker at replying on there if you have questions or queries.
